Individual Keratin Hair Extensions

What type of extensions are they?

 -Individual Keratin Bond Method

 How are they applied?

-They are individually connected to the natural hair by a small keratin bond.  Keratin does not damage the hair since it is a natural protein found in our own hair.

How long will my extensions last?

-It will depend on each individual.  With proper care and maintenance, your extensions can last between 2.5-5 months. The better care they receive, the longer the extensions will last.

How long does it take to put in hair extensions?

-It completely depends on what you’re having done and what kind of hair you have to begin with. Upon your consultation a cost and time frame will be given. Consultations are complimentary. Expect anywhere from 2-3 hours.

Will extensions damage the hair?

-No. If hair extensions are placed in correctly and done by experts they should not affect the structure or health of your natural hair at all. You must get them put in and taken out at a salon in order to make sure of this. If your extensions and the bond are maintained in the recommended way, they will not damage your own hair.

Can curling irons and flat irons be used with extensions?

-Yes.  But you must avoid the area where the extensions have been attached.

 Hair Care

-Hair care is essential to maintaining healthy, shiny, beautiful hair. Hair with extensions needs a little extra nourishment and care. Finger comb throughout the day as well to prevent tangling.

 Brushing

-A large soft bristle brush is highly recommended for extensions. This will ensure the hair does not snag and the brush will not catch the extensions. Using the recommended brush will leave the hair shinny and in optimum condition. It is recommended that brushing begin at the end of the hair, then move to the mid length and finally brush the root area at least twice per day. At bedtime gently tie your hair back in a loose braid or twist; this will help prevent potential tangling. Never go to bed with wet hair.

Cleaning

-When washing your hair, always tilt your head back and lather from the top down. Don’t scrub aggressively.  It is recommended that you do not turn your head upside down but always wash from the crown down. Distribute a normal amount of shampoo at the root area; gently massaging in small circles over the scalp area. This will cleanse both the natural hair and your extensions. Do not scrub the mid-length or ends as these will be cleansed sufficiently during the rinsing process. Rinse thoroughly.

Conditioning

-Conditioner is applied to the mid-lengths and ends only. The hair should be gently massaged, distributing the conditioner thoroughly. Do not apply conditioner to the scalp or bonds.

Towel Drying

-After rinsing squeeze excess water from the hair, then wrap a towel around the head and gently pat the towel to remove moisture from the hair. Avoid rubbing the scalp and hair.

Drying and Styling

-Blow-dry on low heat starting at the ends and working up to finish with the roots. Use your finger tips to help separate the extensions while drying. When the hair is almost dry, you can use your bristle brush. Avoid brushing your hair on wet hair! Once dry, you may style using hot rollers, hot sticks, curling irons or hair strengtheners. Please note this is for 100% human hair only! Do not use these styling methods on synthetic hair.

How often should the hair be washed?

-As often as you wish, but it is recommended every other day. This will prevent any build up of natural oils on the scalp which could affect the durability of the bond.

Can the hair be tied back?

-Yes. But it is advised that you wear it in a loose scrunch at the nape of the neck. Never tie your hair back when wet or damp!  It is recommended that the hair is tied up at night. Do not sleep with wet or damp hair as this could affect the bonds and may cause the hair to tangle while sleeping.

Can you swim with extensions?

-Yes.  You can swim with extensions, but it is recommended that you avoid hair contact with the water by using a swimming cap. If your hair does come in contact with sea water or chlorine, you will need to shampoo your hair and perform your regular hair care maintenance routine.

Should you be giving your hair a rest between having old extensions taken out and new ones put in?

-As long as your extensions are applied and removed correctly, meaning no damage has occurred then you can have your new extensions put in the same day your old ones come out.
